Welcome to Weekend Warriors my friends!!
This month is all about books!
And books make up a lot of this job, don't they?
Today I bring to you...
My Top Five Favorite Children's Books!

{number one}
The Lorax by Dr. Seuss
I'm sure this isn't a "new" book for many of you!
The story is so very sweet and sentimental!
Wasn't Dr. Seuss so ahead of his time?

{number two}
everything Elephant Piggie by Mo Willems
The Elephant and Piggie series are my absolute favorites!
We had tons of fun early in the year with these cuties!
Check out this post to grab a freebie
to make these adorable puppets.

{number three}
Otis by Loren Long
Otis by Loren Long is the sweetest story of a tractor and a calf!
Who knew a tractor and a calf could bring a tear to my eye every time I read it.
I love it so much I made a product for it!
Check it out by clicking the cover!

{number four}
The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein
I love The Giving Tree so much that
 my husband and I named his landscaping company after it.
Yet another book that brings a tear to my eye every time!

{number five}
Yes Day by Amy Krouse Rosenthal

Yes Day is an awesome book for your primary students!
It's all about a day where the little boy's parents say YES to everything!
Can you imagine this as a kid? It would be amazing!
I made a little product about Yes Day way back when.
Click the cover to grab.
I hope you'll enjoy a few of these books with your students!!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Three weeks ago I had no plans for my February vacation.
Then an amazing opportunity came to me to be a
teacher blogger at the ED Expo in Hotlanta!!
For a New England gal buried under 5 feet of snow the chance to fly south is such a treat.
 What's even better is that I get to spend a day exploring all kinds of educational materials.
My job is to to pick the top 10 that all of us teacher would love to have.
This will be really hard work!!
And I'm sure I'll love every minute of it.

They'll be 50 bloggers there! What fun!
It will be so great to put faces to many sweet bloggers that I've "met" online.
I'll be sure to be sharing some fun on Instagram and Facebook.
Be sure you are following me so that you can come along virtually!

The Primary Powers gals are celebrating this beautiful month of love with a linky of the things we love in our classrooms! Check out my post then head to Primary Powers to link up!
I've said it before and I'll say it again!
I love love love the Phonics Dance!
It is a series of phonics chats and movements that can be worked into any reading program.
We use Reading Street, but we also Phonics Dance each day!
You can read more about it on their website here
Every year I question
"Will they love it as much as last year's kids?"
"What if they don't know what to do?"
And every year the magical Daily 5 fairy flies through the room and it all works out!
If we ever have a day where we don't do rounds I with out a doubt get a few kids asking,
"Are we doing Daily Five today?".
That tells me they love it!
Teacher score!
I really love these reference folders I started using in my class as few years ago!!
The kids know right where to go for a math question or how to spell a word.
I really try to get my first graders to be independent problem solvers.
These folders foster that independence.
The yellow folder contains math resources.
Check them out by clicking this cover.
The green folder has our Spelling Dictionary.
This is in my top 5 favorite Tpt products!
Check it out by clicking this cover.
You can read more about everything inside these folders here

Time to visit Primary Powers to grab these slides and link up your classroom loves!!

I feel like a bear right now! We are in full on hibernation mode here on Cape Cod. We have a million inches of snow, had 100 days off from school, my house has been plagued with strep, fevers and stomach bugs! What I wouldn't give for even a 40 degree day right now!

I'm peeking out of my cave for a quick second to write this blog post.
I spent the day in bed with a lovely stomach bug my littlest shared with me.
So please excuse this post for lack of deep content and photos!
We also had 5 snow days in a row so we are still
getting the train back on the track in grade one!

All this time off did give me a chance to finish up some
Tpt products that I am dying to share with you!
I just finished January and dived right into February.
There's loads of goodies inside and you can read about them in detail here

 I sincerely hope this product will be a great addition to your reading block!

Next up is I Spy February!
These centers are a blast!!
You simply laminate and tape the cards around your room.
The kiddos then have to travel around to
fill in their recording sheets.
This is some great get up and go for the winter blahs!
Check out this post to see I Spy in action!

I'm linking up today over at DoodleBugs for
