Mish Mosh!

We are enjoying the fall in first grade! I'm especially enjoying it because we are still in 60 degree weather. Yahoo! They've predicted a terrible winter so I am soaking up as many flip flop wearing days as possible.
Here are a few of our goings on this week!
Linking up today with Doodlebugs Five for Friday!
In math we've been working mostly on
addition & number sense.
This was the best of the best on this activity.
So many of my students were totally clueless!
We will be revisiting this next week for sure!
This is from my Math Workshop September packet.
It's full of seasonal math activities that students can return to again and again because each time they are making new numbers with cards, dice or a spinner.
The activities can be done independently or with a friend.
There's an October edition too!
And all the other months of the year!
You can even grab the bundle to save some dough.

We finally got around to ole' Christopher Columbus. I do Columbus as a quick drive by. I'm not totally sold on his whole "finding America" deal. And he seems like kind of a jerk. Just sayin'. But we did whip out this cute little craft that you can put in your back pocket. Keep scrolling for directions.

Elephant and Piggie joined us as
our new class mascots this week.
They go home with a new friend each weekend and have lots of fun adventures. There is a journal that students write and draw in to share with the class. I do this in the place of show and tell (aka bring and brag). The kids love it and it's a wonderful home to school connection.
