Five For Friday 10/23

We made it! Congrats to all of us!
Friday is here!
Let's Five for Friday it up!

It's a Weekend Warriors weekend on Saturday and Sunday!
This month's theme is ORGANIZING OCTOBER!
I love to organize, although I don't do nearly enough of it!
I always have lofty goals to clean out closets and drawers every weekend.
And then I sit on the couch. I'm sure you all know how that ends.
Be sure to stop back here tomorrow to check out my
classroom organization and my blog pals as well.
I promise you my classroom fairs much better than my house!

Here's a bit about another BUSY first grade week.
There are not enough hours, huh?

I love this awesome freebie I snagged
from my sweet friend Aimee at Primarily Speaking.
We took her cute ghost page, numbered them and
made them in a number line! Genius!
We always need number sense practice!!

We had two (count 'em) field trips this week as well. I'm wiped!
One of our field trips was to a local farm.
We had a great farmer show us all around!
Seven years of this trip and I learn something new every year.
The kids always love getting to pick their own pumpkin!
This year's fun fact- What animal eats pumpkins on the farm at night?
Stay tuned to the end of this post to find out!
After a pumpkin patch trip we had some fun reading, watching and making Spookleys!
My class did great on this. We painted paper orange. And then I gave them some loose directions on making pumpkins, stems and curly leaves. Then I let them have free reign. Sometimes it's fun to let them just go for it and see what they create! They came out adorable.

Since we had a farm field trip this week we also had some fun with my favorite farm tractor Otis.
Have you ever read this book? It's the sweetest story about a calf, a tractor and their sweet friendship.
We also had a new reading buddy Otis join the gang after we read the book!
We did a writing booklet too!
You know the usual...charater, setting, problem, solution...
I have some great artists this year!
I have a whole Otis unit here!

I hope you are sitting...I already prepped a few math centers for next week.
I'm not a super duper planner ahead kind of gal.
I want to be, but there is just. no. time.
But, I got my act together (kinda) for next week!
We will be working on counting in the teens (SO HARD!).
We will also be working on our plus 2s.
Halloween rings and erasers make life better, huh?
I like to have my kiddos record their work on simple whiteboard
to save on paper and it makes them practice their number writing.
I'm sneaky like that.
Grab both of these FREEBIES here. =)
I made them in color and black/white for your copying needs.

The brand new Primary Powers Educents Bundle
is available for just a few more days!
It is such a sweet deal.
Grab it now before you forget.

It's the squirrel that eats pumpkins at night!
And they never the same one.
They choose a new one each night.
Thanks Melonheadz for the graphic.

  1. I'm so glad you could use the ghost number line idea! Thanks for the shout out! I can't believe you had two field trips this week. Wowza! Love the squirrel fun fact. Who knew?

  2. Isn't it funny how it's the little things, like halloween erasers, that motivates the kiddos? I love it! I also love your picture with the kiddos holding their pumpkins in front of their faces! Too cute!! Have a great weekend!

  3. Hi! I know this is kinda off topic but I was wondering if you knew where I could locate a captcha plugin for my comment form? I’m using the same blog platform as yours and I’m having difficulty finding one? Thanks a lot!

If you have a half a sec feel free to leave a comment. Thanks!
