Sunday Funday 3/16

We are halfway through March.
Let's celebrate!
Cheers my friends!

I am having tons of fun seeing all my son is learning.
I love getting to do some fun teacher stuff with him!
We had some fun this week making a little "parking lot" game.
I've seen this activity on Pinterest no less than 1,000 times.
You create a little "parking lot" for students to
practice sight words, number recognition, color words,
commutative property and more.
Everyone I've seen is homemade with no fancy fonts- ack!
So I thought I would simply snazzy mine up!

Let's get down to it!
First, I bought some cheap vehicles at Dollar Tree.
Next, I found a cute kid to play with.
I hope you all have one hanging about!
We started with sight words.
I would say...
Put your green car on "the".
Put your red car on "in".
If he was a little stumped I may say.
This words has an i in it.

This activity is great for color recognition
practice with the vehicles as well.

Then we moved on to math!
Here I gave Tristan the fact and
he would find the answer.
I would say.
What's 6+4?
What's 3+1?
What's 5-2?

He organized these vehicles on his own!

Click here to grab these four game boards!
The sight words are from the pre-primer Dolch list.
The numbers are 1-10 and 11-20
Although it's a Funday I'm also going to link this up
to Molly's sweet Freebie on the 15th!
After you link up here head over there to add your
freebie, and grab a few more1

March stinks in a lot of ways.
But one way it doesn't stink is St. Patrick's Day!
My friend has this adorable sign in her house.
I think I need my own.
We have a lot of festivities around this wearing 'o the green time.
We went to the parade last Sunday
and followed that up with a long happy hour.
Today we are taking the kids to see our friend Mr. Rob
at his kid's St. Patrick's Day event.
Then on the actual St. Patrick's Day we are going to our
annual dinner, drinks and dancing at the
local Irish pub- O'Shea's Olde Inne.
If you ever visit Cape Cod this is a "must do".
I love it here!
If you come to Cape Cod and visit O'Shea's on a Thursday night
 you'll probably see me!
You can like O'Shea's on Facebook and
you might see my face.
Their profile pic is me and my middle gal from
St. Patty's Day last year.
Happy St. Patrick's Day Everyone!

  5. Love your parking lot games! My first graders would love this. So creative that you did it with sight words, colors, and math facts! I'm always looking for new ideas for students to practice math facts! Thanks for sharing! I found your blog on a Five for Friday and saw you were from MA. Woohoo! Me too, I feel like I never find any MA bloggers! I'm running my first giveaway if you want to check it out!
